While Stephanie has worked with a large variety of animals in her life, she has always had a special place in her heart for birds. She got her first bird, a cockatiel, when she was 4 years old. Started learning how to “treat” birds when she was 7 and her brother’s cockatiel required medicine that was given orally through a syringe. Everything just took off from there.

In 2017, when she was first introduced to essential oils, she had 8 birds (one of whom lived free-flying in her room). She knew she needed to learn what was safe to use around them right away, yet when she searched there was very little on birds and what was out there was very contradictory. Stephanie worked towards getting herself educated from the best sources she could find. In 2021, Stephanie completed her certification as an animal aromatherapist. The veterinarian who certified her actually started to refer to her for birds and gave her the confidence to become the first person to actually teach a LIVE course specifically on how to use natural aromatherapy products safely with birds.

Stephanie knew that simply knowing what is safe to use with and around birds is not enough if there are aromatherapy consultants who would like to help people with birds, yet have no bird experience themselves. So, she decided to dig a little deeper and in January of 2022, she taught a course simply on birds as a species to give those consultants a place to start. She followed it up with a little bit of a deeper dive into the basics of using the different aromatherapy products with birds. In February of 2022 she started working towards developing a Mighty Network called “Botanicals 4 Birds.” It is basically like her own Facebook specializing in birds and aromatherapy. She wanted a place where people could learn about all the different ins and outs of different species of birds as well as everything they could want to know about how to use natural aromatherapy products safely with and around them. Stephanie knew that the best way for people to learn and retain the knowledge well enough to be utilizing it on a daily basis with other people’s animals, as well as their own, would be to combine courses with a community.

Botanicals 4 Birds is an incredible place that offers both and it’s a place where everything can grow and evolve, just as we (humans, animals, and even the various plants that make up essential oils and hydrosols) do. This is a culmination of a lifetime of work, education, experiences, and much more.
